Relax, I'm just late. Oxymoron or a wise strategy for shifting gears?
This morning I awoke to the radio. And I noticed an odd sight. There was sunshine coming through my west facing window. Yup, we were late. So now I had a choice, relax and simply make the best of my time or rush frantically to make up for late time in the name of getting it all done on time. I've been down this road before. And if there is one thing I have learned the hard way, is you can't undo what has been done.
So I casually awoke the child needing the bus to school. The child was told we were late, to not worry and to simply start getting ready. You see, we've been down this road before.
Its seems my spouse was on top of things before going to work. Biscuits were on the stove top. Plenty of milk was in the fridge. So, breakfast was....you got it...biscuit and a cup of milk. As my child made last minute clothing adjustments, I signed papers in the usual locations. Then we walked outside and low and behold, we were on time.
And so I thought back to past decades where I would have handled this much differently. There would have been heavy breathing and cussing. There would have been running and rushing. And still we probably would not have made it on time.
And so I offer this lesson to you. If you are late, relax. Time isn't as rigid as we often believe.
My prayer today is for peace and comfort.
